GHV Board of Education Names Superintendent Finalists

GARNER - The Garner-Hayfield-Ventura Community School District Board of Education has announced two finalists for the district's next superintendent. The finalists are Jason Lampe and Joel Martin.
The board reviewed 13 applicants for the position and met in closed session on March 5 to screen six candidates. Following deliberation, board members selected Lampe and Martin to move forward as finalists. The board partnered with Grundmeyer Leader Services to assist with the search process and facilitate the review of qualified candidates.
Lampe currently serves as principal of Manson Northwest Webster Elementary School in Barnum, Iowa, where he leads approximately 450 students and more than 60 staff members. During his tenure, Lampe has overseen a $4 million elementary facilities project funded through the district's Physical Plant and Equipment Levy (PPEL).
Additionally, Lampe has implemented professional development opportunities tor educators as part of his initiative tor a building-level culture of continuous improvement. His previous experience includes serving as an assistant principal, activities director, and in other school leadership roles.
Currently, Martin serves as principal of Westwood Elementary School in Ankeny, Iowa. In this role, he designed and oversaw a program to support students' academic, social, behavioral, and mental health needs. During his leadership, Westwood Elementary' s Iowa Statewide Assessment of Student Progress (ISASP) English language arts proficiency increased from 78 percent to 86 percent, while math proficiency increased from 83 percent to 86 percent.
Prior to his current role, Martin served as associate principal and later co-principal at Perry Elementary School in Perry, Iowa. He also has several years of classroom experience teaching English language arts and reading at the elementary level.
As a next step, the board and two mixed stakeholder interview teams will conduct formal interviews with both finalists on Tuesday, March 17. The board plans to make a final decision shortly after reviewing feedback from the teams once the interviews conclude.
The next superintendent will begin leading the Garner-Hayfield-Ventura Community School District effective July 1, 2026.
