John D. Farquhar

John David Farquhar was born on Feb. 24, 1942 in Clarinda, IA and died on April 10, 2026 in Arizona, where he lived. He was the oldest son of John Richard & Grace (Shields) Farquhar. He attended a one room rural school near Duncan through 7th grade and graduated from Garner High School in 1960. On November 4, 1960, John and Patricia Hanson were married. Their home was blessed with 3 sons (Jeffrey, Kenneth, Michael) and one daughter (Lisa). John & Pat raised their family on the home farm southwest of Garner. In 1993, they sold the family farm and moved to an acreage south of Ventura.

John accepted Jesus Christ as his Savior at age 24. He & Pat were members of the Britt Evangelical Free Church for 25 years and the Clear Lake Evangelical Free Church for 21 years. John served on the Garner-Hayfield School Board, the Hancock County Farm Bureau Board, and was a Pioneer sales representative for many years. John became a semi driver for Norseman Trucking in 1990 while continuing to farm. After Pat’s death in 1996, he purchased his own semi and pulled contract loads for many North Iowa shippers. In 2013, he married Jane Pringnitz Beier. They retired and moved from Iowa to Prescott Valley, AZ.

John enjoyed private aviation and flying small planes, camping, the Iowa State Fair, NASCAR, hunting, and tractor pulls.

John is survived by his sons Kenneth (Mary) Farquhar of Pleasureville, KY and Michael (Wendi) Farquhar of Springfield, MO and his grandchildren Matthew, Aimee, Nicholas, Collin (Claire), Whitley, Trey, and Carson. He is also survived by his siblings Charles, Carolyn, and Howard.

He was preceded in death by his son Jeffrey in 1981, his wife Pat in 1996, his daughter Lisa in 2016, his wife Jane in 2023, and grandson Adam in 2024.
